“Paul Anka is the quintessential performer-entertainer, a master of presentation.”
Joe Delaney, The Las Vegas Sun, USA
Paul Anka didn’t waste time getting his life in music started. From an early age he sang in a choir, studied piano and honed his writing skills with journalism courses. By 13, he had his own vocal group, the Bobbysoxers. Soon after, he won a trip to New York where his dream to make it as a singer/ composer was solidified.
In 1957, he scored a meeting with Don Costa of ABC-Paramount Records, playing him a batch of songs that included “Diana”. Costa was duly enthusiastic about the potential of the young singer and songwriter. The rapid and enormous success of “Diana”, his first number one hit, made him a star at the young age of 15.
Soon after, Paul found himself traveling by bus with the ‘Cavalcade of Stars’ with the top names of the day. Anka was the youngest entertainer to ever perform at the Copa Cabana. And the hits continued to come with “Lonely Boy,” “It’s Time to Cry,” “Put Your Head on my Shoulders,” and many more.
Anka, confident in his talent as a writer, went on to write for Buddy Holly and Connie Francis. And becoming a mascot and a junior associate of Sinatra and the Rat Pack also had its privileges. By the ‘70s, the success of “My Way” and a string of hits like “(You’re) Having My Baby” confirmed his status as an icon of popular music and led to a decades-long career as an entertainer, actor, and songwriter.
Please note, this performance was originally scheduled for October 29 and has been rescheduled to December 10. Regrettably, Paul Anka fell ill and will be unable to perform at the Luhrs Center on Thursday, October 29. Mr. Anka wants to perform in Shippensburg and has rescheduled his show for Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 8 PM. Ticket holders with tickets to the previously scheduled performance date of October 29 should call the Luhrs Center Box Office at (717) 477-SHOW.

Legendary music icons, Three Dog Night, celebrate their 4th decade bringing with them some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.
Three Dog Night’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”, “Joy to the World”, “Black and White”, “Shambala” and “One” serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night’s continuing popularity.
Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music, Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10’s, 18 straight Top 20’s, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs.
Three Dog Night maintain an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. Their well-loved hits, plus some amazing new songs, are performed for audiences spanning generations by founding member Danny Hutton on lead vocals, as well as original band member and guitarist Michael Allsup. Paul Kingery (bass and vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums) complete the lineup.
NOTE: Three Dog Night has announced that they will be back on the road starting in November and will perform all of the dates currently confirmed on their tour schedule.
According to the band's agency, WME, prior to his death, Mr. Wells had been concerned about cancelling shows and disappointing Three Dog Night's fans, so he encouraged the band to get back out on the road.
The band took Wells' recommendation and invited one of his favorite singers to join Three Dog Night when they resume the tour in November. "Our hearts are heavy," said Danny Hutton, the band's founder, "but we are going to honor Cory's wishes and continue. He'll always be with us in spirit."
Please note, this performance was previously scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at 8 PM and has been rescheduled to this new performance date. Ticket holders with tickets to the previously scheduled date should call the Luhrs Center Box Office at (717) 477-SHOW.

In 1981, something special happened – a musical renaissance took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Under the baton of conductor Robert Bernat, the River City Brass took to the Carnegie Music Hall stage for its inaugural concert on November 21. It was an evening of musical excellence and determination – determination to bring about the revival of the grass-roots tradition of the American brass band.
Since that time, the 28 member River City Brass (RCB) has been fulfilling their mission to entertain, educate and engage citizens locally, nationally and internationally in the American musical culture. Locally, RCB’s annual tradition is to present 51 regional concerts and to maintain an acclaimed youth band and Saturday Music Program.
RCB also tours every several years and has produced 15 commercial recordings, the latest of which are River City Brass 30 Years and Christmas Brasstacular.
Over its history, RCB has had three maestros. The astute selection of Dr. James Gourlay three years ago was a watershed moment for American brass band music. James, a Scotland native, is acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest brass band conductors.Buy Tickets

A group of dozens of players start their performance by hitting a Japanese taiko drum made from a large 400 year-old tree. You have now entered into the world of Yamato: powerful sounds, colorful and breathtaking scenes, amazing costumes, and beautiful lighting and theatrical effects. The performers move their whole bodies to strike the drum with an intensity of everything in their souls, creating a powerful surge of energy.
Formed in 1993, Yamato debuted at a Shinto shrine festival when they performed in their Japanese hometown with their original song “Hyu-ga (The Sunrise).” Yamato hails from beautiful Nara Prefecture in Japan, and exhibits great originality and innovation through a traditional Japanese musical instrument known as the wadaiko (Japanese drum).
The theme for their new tour “Bakuon” is “the story of a strong, passionate, continuous beat.” The story is based on the sound of the heartbeat in every one of us. This sound of the heartbeat is continuous from our birth, growth, and day-to-day existence.
